Edward Tabet-Cubero is the founder of Ponderosa Creek Advisors, LLC, a New Mexico-based consulting firm focused on helping organizations navigate complex systems, build strategic partnerships, and advance practical, community-centered solutions across government, education, economic development, workforce systems, nonprofits, and public policy.
With nearly 30 years of experience spanning government, nonprofit leadership, and education systems, Edward has built a career centered on public service, systems change, and implementation-oriented leadership. His work has consistently focused on connecting communities, institutions, and decision-makers to move ideas into action and create long-term impact.
Most recently, Edward served as Deputy Chief of Staff and State Director for U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, where he oversaw statewide operations and community engagement throughout New Mexico while advising on strategic initiatives related to communications, economic development, public policy, and federal engagement. In that role, he worked closely with local governments, educational institutions, tribal communities, nonprofit organizations, industry leaders, and federal agencies to help communities navigate funding opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and address complex regional challenges.
Prior to his federal service, Edward held executive leadership roles across multiple nonprofit and education-focused organizations, including serving as Executive Director of the New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty. His background includes extensive work in organizational leadership, strategic communications, coalition building, workforce development, education systems leadership, public policy, and stakeholder engagement.
Over the course of his career, Edward has led teams ranging from small community-based organizations to large multi-level operations, managed budgets and fundraising efforts from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, and helped guide initiatives involving public funding, philanthropy, economic development, education, and statewide systems coordination.

Deeply rooted in New Mexico, he brings a strong commitment to public service, collaboration, stewardship, and community-centered leadership. In addition to his leadership experience, Edward has taught in higher education, contributed to publications and presentations related to leadership and systems change, and remained actively engaged in civic and community initiatives throughout his career.
